Bỏ nghề chăn nuôi, ông Phạm Văn Cường (xã Phong Phú, Bình Chánh, TP HCM) chuyển sang trồng mai vàng gốc nhớt cho thuê để thu lời tiền tỷ mỗi vụ Tết Nguyên đán.

Hiện, ông Cường đang chuẩn bị khoảng 200 chậu mai gốc nhớt để tạo ra khách thuê mai dịp Tết Nguyên đán năm 2023. Tính đến thời khắc này, khách thuê mai đã đặt hàng 80% số lượng mai trong vườn. Tùy nhu cầu khách hàng, ông Cường sẽ cho lặt lá mai để hoa nở đúng thời khắc chơi Tết.
Mai vàng gốc nhớt là giống mai gì?
Trước khi tới thăm vườn mai nhìn hình ảnh hoa mai ngày tết gốc nhớt của ông Cường, tôi hỏi các nhà vườn trồng mai ở Sài Gòn "nhớt" trong mai gốc nhớt là gì, không ai biết. Chỉ riêng ông Cường ậm ừ nghĩ rằng "nhớt" có tức là "liền mối ghép".
Theo ông Cường, nếu như mai "gốc vườn" được ghép chi của loại mai này với thân của loại mai khác, thì mai gốc nhớt được ghép trong khoảng phôi gốc cây mai này với thân một lại mai khác, như: giảo, tứ quý…
Hiện, phần lớn các nhà vườn trồng mai vàng làm mối gốc nhớt là ghép gốc mai rừng với mai Thủ Đức để cho hoa lớn, đa dạng cánh, đẹp.
Theo ấy, sau lúc ương hạt, cây mai rừng to được khoảng 1 năm, người trồng mai sẽ cắt lấy phôi gốc và đóng ghép với thân mai Thủ Đức. Sau lúc đóng ghép, cây mai được cho trồng dưới đất để nhanh vững mạnh. Khoảng 3 năm sau, người trồng bứng cây mai đưa lên chậu trồng.

Trong giai đoạn trồng, chủ vườn phải làm bộ rễ, tỉa chi, làm tàng… Do ghép cây trong khoảng nhỏ nên mối ghép giữa song đường mai liền nhau. Thậm chí, nhìn cây mai không nhận ra là mai ghép.

công nghệ ghép mai gốc nhớt trong khoảng nhỏ còn có Ưu điểm giúp cây lớn mạnh tốt, ít nhả chi. Cây mai gốc nhớt có đế chân và chi to đều, rất tương đồng khác hẳn với mai "gốc vườn". Đặc trưng, với người trồng mai là cho ra một sản phẩm có hình dạng mai cổ thụ, cho giá trị thẩm mỹ và kinh tế cao.

Ông Cường tỏ bày, ông mê mai gốc nhớt trong khoảng cái đế, cái tàng rồi cái hoa. Vì cái đẹp của mai gốc nhớt mà ông lùng tìm về chơi. Số lượng mai gốc nhớt ông chơi càng ngày càng cải thiện dần theo độ thích.
từ sở thích của mình, ông suy ra nhu cầu của thị trường chơi mai gốc nhớt cũng ko kém. Từ đây, ông quyết định dẹp cái nghề chăn nuôi chuyển sang buôn bán cho thuê mai gốc nhớt chơi lễ, Tết.
Theo ông Cường, sản phẩm mai gốc nhớt là hàng cao cấp, nên phân khúc chơi loại mai này cũng là những người có thu nhập cao. Giả dụ cây mai gốc nhớt và mai "gốc vườn" đều có tàng như nhau, thì lúc cho thuê, giá cây mai gốc nhớt đắt gấp đôi mai "gốc vườn".

"Mai gốc nhớt cho bông nở rộ, lớn, bộ rễ đẹp, tàng đẹp. Về mặt tâm linh, đem lại cây mai như thế trong ngày Tết người chơi đã thấy hên. Như vậy nên, người có tiền không ngại tốn chục triệu thuê loại mai này chơi Tết. Họ chỉ cần sắm được cây mai đẹp, nở đúng ngày Tết là thuê", ông Cường san sẻ.
Ông Cường cho biết, Tết Nguyên đán năm nay, nhìn chung giá mai cho thuê ko tăng do tình hình kinh tế chưa tốt. Nhàng nhàng, giá thuê mai gốc nhớt khoảng 10 triệu đồng/cây/mùa Tết.

"Cây mai nhớt rất quý, giá trị cao nên phải đảm bảo thu hồi còn vẹn nguyên, cây vẫn khỏe mạnh", ông Cường đãi đằng.
Ông Cường san sẻ, để kiếm tìm lợi nhuận với nhà cung cấp cho thuê mai chơi Tết, chính yếu ông tìm cây mai khoảng vài chục triệu về cho thuê.
Chỉ khoảng 2, 3 vụ Tết cho thuê mai là ông lấy lại vốn. Và sau đấy, cây mai chỉ cho thu lợi nhuận.

"Nếu mua cây mai gốc nhớt vài trăm triệu về cho thuê rất khó lấy lại vốn. Cụ thể, ví như cho thuê cây mai gốc nhớt giá 300 triệu đồng đề lấy 40 triệu đồng tiền thuê mùa Tết cũng chỉ bằng tiền lãi ngân hàng. Tính cả tiền công nuôi cây, tiền chuyển vận, tôi chẳng có lời. Cho kể chơi cây lớn rất rủi ro. Nếu khách để cây chết ko đền tiền khách được", ông Cường tính toán.
Ông Cường cho biết thêm, do nhu cầu của khách chơi mai, hiện ông đang lấy về 60 gốc mai to, cao hai – 3m.
